Avon engineering counterbalanced C-Hook are of robust construction designed to maximize load and minimize coil damage. Capacities range from 2.5 Ton to 50 Ton or more and are fabricated using high strength steel body plates to minimize size and weight. They can handle one piece coils or multiple slits and can be designed to fit into turnstile arms.
Options Include:
- Urethane covered back bumper
- Urethane outer body bumpers
- Urethane toe bumper
- Urethane counterweight bumper
- Storage/maintenance stands
- Low headroom style lifting bale
Coil Grabs (Coil Lifting Devices)
Coil grabs are a crucial component of below-the-hook heavy lifting equipment and offer numerous advantages. They enhance efficiency by securely handling heavy coils by the bore reducing the risk of accidents and damage. They promote precise positioning, minimizing downtime and improving workflow. Additionally, they can be customized to fit various coil sizes and shapes, making them versatile and cost-effective solutions for material handling needs in steel mills and service centers.
Avon Engineering telescopic coil grabs are of robust construction with motorized adjustment of the arms to suit coil width. The arms are supported on replaceable aluminum bronze wear strips and the drive includes a torque limit clutch to minimize the risk of damage to coils and drive system.
The drive system is self locking and adjustment of the arm position can only be achieved by operation of the adjusting motor. The arms are telescoped by rack and pinion in a self centering manner.
Options Include:
- 360° power rotation
- Urethane covered leg and saddle bumpers
- Urethane under body bumpers
- Urethane toe and heel rollers
- Coil detection sensors (coil face and coil bore)
- Toe switches for coil bore
- Stack lights to indicate limit switch engagement
- Leg open/close limit switch control
- Storage/maintenance stands
- Low headroom style lifting bale
Pallet Lifters
Pallet lifters offer numerous advantages in material handling and industrial settings. They enhance efficiency by securely transporting heavy loads, like pallets without the need for manual lifting. They reduce the risk of worker injuries and improve productivity. They come in and are versatile tools for loading, unloading, and transporting materials of various kinds and sizes.
Pallet lifters maximize the efficiency of overhead material handling systems and are especially helpful in areas that have narrow storage aisles or are inaccessible with fork lift trucks.
Avon Engineering pallet lifters hang level when empty and when properly loaded. They feature high strength steel forks and welded steel construction that provide maximum strength, low unit weight and years of reliable service.
Request QuoteRotating Lifting Devices
Rotating lifting devices provide substantial benefits in material handling tasks. They enable controlled rotation of loads, enhancing maneuverability and precise placement. These devices minimize the risk of accidents and damage during lifting and positioning operations. By reducing manual labor, they boost efficiency, decrease fatigue, and improve productivity. Additionally, rotating lifting devices are versatile, accommodating various load sizes and shapes.
Avon engineering rotating lifting devices are of robust construction and use high precision slew bearings. Rotation is motorized and includes a torque limit clutch to minimize the risk of damage to the drive system.
Request QuoteSheet and Plate Lifters
Sheet and plate lifters offer significant advantages in material handling. Designed to securely grip and transport metal sheets and plates, these devices prevent load slippage and damage. They reduce the risk of accidents and injuries associated with manual handling.
Avon Engineering manufactures a complete line of motorized sheet and plate lifters engineered to meet a variety of dimensional, capacity and application requirements. They are adaptable to different load sizes, improving versatility. Overall, they boost productivity and reduce labor costs in industries reliant on metal sheet and plate materials.
Avon Engineering sheet lifters have many production applications and numerous optional features to customize the equipment to your individual needs.
Request QuoteSpreader Beams
Spreader beams provide valuable advantages in material handling operations. They distribute the load’s weight evenly, reducing stress on lifting points and preventing damage to the load. Spreader beams offer improved stability and balance when lifting bulky or unevenly shaped loads. Their adjustable configurations accommodate various load sizes and shapes, increasing versatility.
Spreader beams lift loads with single or multiple attachment points. They handle a variety of loads such as long bundles, rolls, cylinders, and machinery.
Avon Engineering designs spreader beams for durability and simple operation. We have significant experience designing and building lifting and spreader beams for use in primary steel mills, steel service centers, pulp and paper mills, power plants and in difficult environments with varied crane layouts.
Request QuoteSlab Tongs
Slab tongs provide a secure and reliable grip on heavy and regular shaped loads reducing the risk of load slippage and accidents. They are versatile and can be adapted to different load sizes. Lifting tongs are indispensable for efficient lifting and transport of challenging loads in industrial and construction applications.
Slab tongs come in various design styles, automatic, hoist operated, cable operated, motorized and hydraulic operated. Gripping varies from 2-point or 4-point grip configuration. Slab tongs may hang from a single crane hook, double crane hooks or reeved directly into the crane.
- The automatic slab tong is designed to operate with an automatic latch which keeps the tong open when descending onto the slab. The latch is released when the tong comes to rest on top of the steel slab and begins the squeezing of the legs.
- The hoist operated slab tong is designed to operate with the electric hoist mounted directly on top of the tong. A wire rope from the hoist keeps the tong open as it descends onto the slab. As the tong closes the wire rope will go slack and remind slacked until the slab is laid to rest.
- The dragline operated slab tong is designed to be operated similarly as a hoist operated slab tong but with the hoist mounted on the crane trolley rather than the tong. A wire rope runs directly from the crane down through the center of the tong to keep it open as it descends onto the slab. As the tong closes the wire rope will go slack and remain slacked until the slab is laid to rest.
- The motorized slab tong is designed to operate by using worm gear motors with a jack screw system to actuate the tong.
- The hydraulic operated slab tong is designed to operate using an electric driven hydraulic system mounted on the tong to hydraulically.
Avon tongs are engineered to be robust for heavy duty application to meet the demands of steel mills. All electrical controls are brought down from the crane to the tong and connected to the tong mounted junction box using hubbell plugs. The lifting process is controlled by an operator in a crane cabin.
